2020 has brought much of America (and other parts of the world) an abundance of time at home. After you’ve finished Netflix, put together puzzles, caught up with old friends, reorganized your house and picked up new hobbies, you may still be looking for more to do.
It’s a great time to learn some new digital marketing skills or brush up on skills that may be rusty.
Here are a couple of great resources to brush up on your PPC skills while you’re at home!
Some of Our Favorite Training Resources
Lynda.com, now owned by LinkedIn and called LinkedIn Learning, is a great resource for training on a myriad of different industries, not just digital marketing. They have online classes from civil engineering to spreadsheets and everything in between.
They have several courses on introduction to Google Ads, social media marketing and eCommerce to name a few.
You can get a free month if you haven’t tried LinkedIn Premium before. Otherwise, it’s $29.99 monthly.
This online training site has 390 options for PPC training! Topics range from lead generation to training for specific channels like Amazon or Google or specific PPC tools like Spyfu. If you’re in search of training for a very specific topic or channel, I would try Udemy.
When I looked, they were having a sale, so courses were between $10.99 and $12.99. Any courses you purchase are available to you forever and you can work at your own pace.
Coursera offers courses that can be completed online at your own pace. While some do cost, you can audit the course for free, meaning you can read and view the course content. While you won’t get the certificate that is offered to paying participants, you could still expand your digital marketing knowledge.
Check out this digital marketing specialization course from the University of Illinois.
The professionals behind this YouTube channel are Michelle Morgan and Joe Martinez, two of our team members here at Clix. Their weekly updates include strategies for any experience level with all major PPC channels. The videos vary in length from 4 to 20+ minutes so you can learn quickly and efficiently.
Wordstream’s selection of PPC training material covers just about every facet of search and social! In addition to articles, there are also previously recorded webinars to review as well.
If you’re tired of reading, try one of Digital Marketing Depot’s many webinars! The options include all facets of marketing, not just PPC, but they have a plethora of options for search and social-related topics. Browse future webinars or listen to previously recorded options as well.
You can also review research and whitepapers!

Channel-Specific Training Resources
If you need to get certified or update your certification for Google Ads, there are a number of resources on the Google Ads Skillshop.
Learn more in-depth about search, display, video, shopping or measurement.
Brush up on your knowledge and then take the certification exams! It’s all free.
This online resource allows you to learn more about MS Advertising basics, campaign strategy, reporting, products and more. You can also prepare for the certification exam with the study guide.
Whether you’re interested in Facebook or Instagram, there are several courses available on Blueprint for free. From how to get started, to improving ads, and how to use Facebook Page Posts.
While Facebook’s options aren’t as wide as Microsoft or Google, this is still a good resource if you’re looking to learn the basics.
In addition to the resources listed above, it could be beneficial to ask your network on your LinkedIn and/or Twitter networks and check with colleagues and/or supervisors for additional recommendations.
Before paying for any training, I would recommend checking with your company. Some companies offer incentives or a set amount of money each year for additional training, certificates or degrees. This could be a great time to get started on resume builders!
